Mary Virginia (Keck) Black, 79, of Gettysburg, died September 6.

She was the daughter of the late George H. and Mary Elizabeth (Barbehenn) Keck and wife of the late Bennett Lloyd Black, Jr. of State College, Pa.

Mrs. Black attended Gettysburg College and received a BS in chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University. After college she was employed by Hamilton-Standard in Hartford, CT until her marriage and then worked part-time as a math and science teacher in the Arthurdale, WV and Biglerville school systems.

She was a member of Chapter BL, P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Gettysburg College Alumni Association, and past member of the Biglerville Garden Club.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Vogel of North Andover, MA, Carol Thrower of Ludham, England, and Allen Black of Arbutus, MD; sisters Elizabeth Malcolm of Louisville, OH, and Vera Swadley of Ocean View, DE; two grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.
