James Arthur (Jim) Adams, 87, passed away Saturday June 25th, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Waynesburg, PA. He was born on October 1, 1923 in Cheat Neck, the son of the late Carl and Maria (Brant) Adams.

Mr. Adams graduated from University High School. Following graduation, he served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Terror where he saw action throughout the South Pacific. He was married 59 years to the love of his life, the late Mary Louise (Fetty) Adams. They made their life-long home in Laurel Point. He is survived by three children, James F. Adams and wife Peggy (Duley) Adams, Arthur W. Adams and wife Georgette (Gresko) Adams and Nancy (Adams) Holbert and husband John B. Holbert all of Morgantown. Mr. Adams was also the proud grandfather of five grandchildren; Beth (Adams) Walker, James Andrew Adams, Luke Holbert, Laura (Holbert) Schaeffer, Ryan Adams and 2 great-grandchildren Allie and Mattie Walker. He was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph E. Adams and Mark A. Adams. Mr. Adams was also preceded in death by his sister Betty (Adams) Brand and his brother Harry Myers.

Mr. Adams was a respected builder of many fine homes in the Morgantown area and was also successful in establishing area subdivisions. He was a dedicated member of the Laurel Point United Methodist Church for more than 65 years where he served as a trustee, teacher and in many other capacities.

Aside from his family and community involvements, he enjoyed building, gardening, traveling and fishing. He chose to faithfully live his life following his religious beliefs. He took great pride in helping others. He was an honest, loyal and giving man and he will be missed by those that knew him.

Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Tuesday June 28, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Wednesday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Sandra Firth officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with Military Graveside Rites conducted by Westover VFW Post 9916 and United States Navy Mid-Atlantic Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Laurel Point Methodist Church (c/o Sheila Powell, 2735 Fairmont Rd., Morgantown, WV 26501) or the Alzheimer's Association.
