Charles Franklin Adkins of Seth died Friday, November 10, 2006, in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, after an extended illness.

He was born March 14, 1922, at Joe's Creek, a son of the late Marion and Elizabeth Adkins. He was a retired coal miner for Valley Camp Coal Company at Shrewsberry, a former overseer at Mount Herman Freewill Baptist Church at Joe's Creek and a member of Toney's Creek Chapel, Bloomingrose, where he was in charge of the food pantry.

Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie June Adkins, on October 21, 1993; a son, Roger Adkins, on July 30, 1997; his identical twin brother, Arthur; and four sisters, Gladys Dotson, and Opal, Emily and Myrtle Adkins.

He is survived by four daughters, Janet Adkins and Kathy Alley, both of Seth, Marie Peters of Naoma and Shirley Tincher of Comfort; two sons, Harold Adkins of Charleston, Ill., and Robert Adkins of Seth; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a niece, Mary Perdue of Seth.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Kanawha County, Dr. Mickey Duncan, Dr. Mark Bates and Dr. Neil.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 13, at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, with the Rev. Junior Perdue officiating. The Riddle Family and Brittany Bowdish will sing. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Lafferty, Terry Abbott, Doug Dotson, Dennis Bonham, Thomas Tincher, and Ray Stevens.
