PRINCETON — Virginia Mae Akers, 88, of 5339 Pisgah Road in Princeton, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1918 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Jess and Bess Champ Candler. She was a loving mother and homemaker.
In addition to her parents, one son, George S. Akers, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Deloris Lambert of Princeton with whom she made her home, and Regina Palmer and husband Steve of Princeton; three sons, Ambrose E. Akers and wife Drema of Spotsylvania, Va., Jack L. Akers and wife Liz of Chesapeake, Va., and Kenneth Gene Akers of Princeton; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Erma Lee Childers and husband Jim of Princeton, and Catherine Farley and husband Ted of Beckley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today.
