PRINCETON — William Brabbin "Sonny" Adams, 68, of 303 Sandpiper Avenue, Princeton and Fripp Island, S.C., died Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 at his home after fighting cancer for the past three years.
Born on September 10, 1939 in Mullens, W.Va., Sonny was the son of the late Juanita and Burbridge Adams.
He attended the public schools of Mullens, Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, West Virginia University, Beckley College and Morris Harvey College in Charleston, W.Va. After graduating from Morris Harvey, he worked for the State Tax Department in Charleston for five years. He then moved to Russell, Kentucky and served as the Business Administrator to a Mental Health organization that assisted five counties. Sonny eventually served Concord College for twenty-five years, being both Assistant Business Manager and Concord College Bookstore Manager.
Sonny is survived by his wife: Judith White Adams; daughter, Whitney Beth Adams of Princeton; son and daughter-in-law, William Wesley Adams and Danielle Cappelletti Adams and grandsons, William Anthony Adams and Maximus Giulio Adams all of Gallipolis, Ohio; sister, Burnita Adams-Wilkins of Mullens; niece, Laura Wilkins Swain and husband Jim Swain and great-nephews, Nicholas and Andrew Swain all of Raleigh, N.C.; cousin, Connie Foster Chenowith and extended family.
Graveside services will be held at the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Princeton with the Rev. Tracy French officiating.
Those attending the Graveside Service on Sunday are asked to meet at the cemetery's Mausoleum Chapel.
In consideration of the present world economy, neither flowers nor charitable contributions are necessary. Friends thoughts and prayers are most appreciated.
The Adams family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
