Rita was born March 3, 1928 in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Antonio and Victoria (Branca) Giordano, the youngest of nine children. Rita grew up on Beach Avenue in the Bronx and graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor's in Art History.
She taught Business Education at Carmel High School for over twenty years, where she touched the lives of many, and made lifelong friends.
For much of her life, Rita was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Putnam Lake. Most recently, she was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, enjoyed bible study, the Right to Life, and her prayer community.
She embraced being part of the many activities and clubs at Heritage Hills, and cherished all the wonderful friendships she made along the way.
Rita will be remembered for her unconditional love to her family, unwavering faith, and a truly kind and giving heart.
Rita is survived by three loving daughters, Carole and her husband, Ken, Julie and her husband, Rudi, and Barbara; her six grandchildren, Kathryne, Madeline, Michael, Melissa, Alexa, and Emily; and her brother, Guy Giordano, and his wife, Marie; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward Ance, the love of her life; six brothers, and one sister, all of whom she loved dearly.
Friends may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers.
Interment will follow in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster.
