Albert Avallone, 82, of Brewster, died Feb.29, 2008. He was born Feb. 17, 1926, in the Bronx to Anna and Umberto Avallone. Al was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Seabees. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and was the Post Commander of the American Legion, Argonne Post No. 71. Al was predeceased by his wife, Marie, and daughter, Cate. He is survived by his children and their spouses: Judy and Kelye Schlepp; Mary Ann and Joe O'Gorman; John Avallone; Sonny and Marcia Avallone; Dan and Robin Avallone. He is also survived by his sister Ann Hughes. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless relatives and friends. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, March 29 at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Brewster, at 11:30 a.m. with burial to follow at the St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Labre Indian School, P.O. Box 216, Ashland, MT, 59003, or Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, Georgia, 31709-3498.
