Edward T. Baranowski, Sr., of Jupiter, FL, died on January 5, 2003. He was born on October 9, 1923 in Manhattan to Julian and Mary Baranowski. He was raised in the Bronx and graduated from Evander Childs High School. He attended Cornell University. Formerly of Mahopac, NY, and New Canaan, CT He and his family spent many wonderful summers in Wellfleet, Cape Cod. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Eileen (Fowley). He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Stephanie Humbert and loving children: Mary (James ) Walsh, Eileen (Donald) Smith, Thomas (Kim), Stephen (Elaine), John (Robin), and Edward (Catherine); his grandchildren: Scott (Molly) Smith, Ryan (Megan) Smith, Colleen, James and Matthew Walsh and Caitlin, Stephen, Alexandra, Jared, Michael M., Lauren, and Michael F. Baranowski and Gregory Boettcher and many nieces and nephews. His parents, son Michael Francis, grandson Christopher, sister Julia Slack and brothers Charles and Bernard predeceased him. Edward was a Corporal in the Army Medical Corps and fought in the India/Burma Campaign in WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. Edward was retired as a Foreman from the A&P Tea Company. He then worked for Littell Associates and the St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Edward was an avid gardener, carpenter, and reader. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a former member of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department. He devoted a great deal of his retirement hours in helping the poor and those in need. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him. Calling hours will be at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, Mahopac on Friday at 9:45 AM with burial at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice by the Sea, 4847 Fred Gladstone Dr., West Palm Beach, FL 33417.
