Catherine (Kay) E. Aldridge, a long time resident of New Fairfield, died March 13, 2010 at Glen Hill Harborside Nursing Home. Catherine was born November 24, 1928 in the Bronx NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Jean (Donnellan) McCloskey. She spent her career as a school teacher in the Carmel Central School District at the Matthew Patterson Elementary School. A parishioner of St Edward the Confessor Church, she was a member of the Ladies Guild where she served as their president. She was also a supporter of the Friends of the Library in New Fairfield. As an avid reader and writer, she wrote many articles and stories on local residents for the Citizen News. She also enjoyed photography and music. She is survived by her son, Charles Aldridge and his wife, Christine of Danbury; a daughter, Mary Jean Hinz and her husband, Peter of Gaylordsville; her sister, Dorothy Weizenecker of Brewster N.Y. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Hinz, Meghan and Kaitlin Aldridge; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her son, Stephen Blair Aldridge. Friends may call in the Green Funeral Home 57 Main St, Danbury on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday 12 noon at St Edward the Confessor Church. Interment will follow at St Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), 200 CT Ave. 5 H, Norwalk, CT 06854.
