He was raised in Highland Park, New Jersey, and was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and attended Wesley Theological Seminary. He was a Methodist minister serving at Emory, Boring, Pleasant Grove and Wesley U.M. Churches and was also a teacher in Carroll County for 28 years. He enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Richard L. Allwine and wife Maria, of Lucca, Italy, and David L. Allwine of New Oxford, PA; granddaughters, Shannon Hale, Anastasia Allwine, Alexandra Allwine and Arianna Allwine; great-granddaughter, Quincie S. Hale; great-grandson, Justin M. Smith.
Following funeral services held at Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA with Rev. Joel Hummel officiating, interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
