Joretta Ann Allwine, 85, of Hanover, PA entered into God's eternal care on Thursday, October 20, 2016 and joined her beloved husband of 64 years, Lewis Howard Allwine, who died on February 4, 2016. Born on Saturday, April 18, 1931 in Rowlesburg, WV, she was a daughter of the late Ira Arthur and Eva Heath Proudfoot. She received her Bachelor's degree in Education from Towson State University and her Master's degree in Education from Western Maryland College. Joretta taught music for more than 30 years, most of which was spent at the Manchester (MD) Elementary School. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Chincoteague, VA, she attended worship regularly at Homewood Chapel at Plum Creek. She enjoyed quilting and accompanying her husband on the piano. Survivors include two sons, Richard Lynn Allwine and his wife, Maria, of Lucca, Italy and David Lewis Allwine of New Oxford; four grandchildren, Shannon Elizabeth Hale, Anastasia Elizabeth Allwine, Alexandra Victoria Allwine and Arianna Eva Allwine; and two great-grandchildren, Justin Smith and Quincie Hale. The funeral will be held at 11 am Monday, October 24, 2016 at Homewood Chapel at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, with The Rev. Joel B. Hummel officiating. Burial will be private in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine, Development & Alumni Relations - A120, 90 Hope Drive - Suite 1103, PO Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033-0852.
