Ada Claire Bloomer, 101, of Washington, W.Va., died Dec. 10, 2010, at her residence.

She was born in New England, W.Va., a daughter of the late William G. and Ida May (Wigal) Moore.

Ada enjoyed cooking and loved having family dinners. She was a member of Bethany Christian Church for 85 years.

Ada is survived by her children, Chester Glen Bloomer (Gladys), Darrel Vincent Bloomer, who she lived with, Evelyn Biddle (Steve) and David Lee Bloomer (Nancy) all of Washington; grandchildren, Edwin Bloomer (Cindy) of Parkersburg, Paul Bloomer (Becky) of Washington, Curtis Bloomer (Lisa) of St. Marys, Michael Ferree (Terrie), who she raised, Cathy Mays (Ken), who she also raised, Eric Biddle (Tammy) of Washington, Cortney Bloomer of Dayton, Nev., and Kendra Bloomer of Barboursville, W.Va.; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Bloomer; four brothers; five sisters and a great-grandson.

The service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Thad Allen and Pastor Tom Abbott officiating. Visitation will 2-6 p.m. today. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery on New England Ridge.
