Herman worked for the Merced County Sheriff's Department for 28 years before retiring. He also was a retired dairyman. He was a member of the Young Men's Institute, 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years; Marihelen Afonso, one aunt: Rosa Soares, many cousins and lots of good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mass will be Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Atwater. Burial will follow at Winton District Cemetery.
