Charles J. Allen, 87, of 314 McKinley street, Janesville resident since 1930, died at 1 a.m. Monday in Mercy hospital. He had been in falling health for the past two years and was re-admitted to the hospital Saturday. Mr. Allen, whose ancestors came to Wisconsin from Ohio, was born Oct 10, 1864, in Green county. He was married to Clara
Van Matre March 26, 1890, near Mineral Point. The couple lived on a farm near Mineral Point before locating in Janesville, 21 years ago. Mr. Allen was a member of First Congregational Church, Odd Fellows No. 1, Mineral Point, and of Modem Woodmen of America. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Homer J. Ludden and Mrs. E. W. Rost; and three grandsons. A grandson, Pfc. William Rost was killed in action in Belgium Oct 26, 1944. Services will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday in Mineral Point Congregational church, the Rev. H. C. Kimmel, Janesville, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Overton funeral home served the family.
