Friends may call at First Trinity Lutheran Church, Marinette after 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16 for Walter W. Ahrens, age 88, of Marinette, WI He passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 11 at the Luther Home of Marinette, WI.
Rev. Fred Stubenvoll will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo.

The son of the late Otto and Pauline (Krutz) Ahrens was born on Aug. 27, 1918 in the Town of Little River, Oconto County, WI.

He spent his early years in the County Line area.

He married the former Helen M. Spangenberg on Sept. 23, 1939 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Grover, WI.

The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage this past year. They lived in Peshtigo before moving to Marinette and then to Menominee, MI, where they resided for many years. He was employed at Menominee Paper Co. for 36 1/2 years, retiring in 1980.
In his younger years he enjoyed dancing and in retirement pursued woodworking as a hobby. He was a 54 year member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette.

His wife survives, along with four sons: Walter R. (Pat) Ahrens of Peshtigo, WI; Eugene E. (Helen) Ahrens of Appleton, WI; Dallis E. (Marilyn) Ahrens of Waukesha, WI and Jeff Ahrens of Phoenix, Ariz.;
two daughters: Mrs. Vincent (Geraldine) Michalak of West Allis, WI and Mrs. Steve (Patricia) Bertram of Green Bay, WI;
15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Edverdina) Polzin of Harmony, WI
and two brothers-in-law: Raymond Hannemann of Crivitz, WI and Ralph (Jean) Spangenberg of Marinette, WI.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Ed, Charlie, Roy and Otto
and four sisters: Florence, Alvina, Ida and Edna.
