Helen M. Ahrens, age 89 of Marinette, Wisconsin passed away May 5, 2010 at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette. Born April 17, 1922 in Marinette to the late Edward and Margaret (Borths) Spangenberg.

She married Walter W. Ahrens on September 23, 1939 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Town of Grover, the same church she was baptized and confirmed. The couple lived in Peshtigo before moving to Marinette and then to Menominee, MI; where they resided for many years. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 2007. For nearly four years, she was a resident of Bay Shore Pines in Marinette. She was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette for over 58 years.

Surviving are five children: Geraldine (Vincent) Michalak of West Allis, WI; Walter (Pat) Ahrens, Jr. of Peshtigo, WI; Eugene (Helen) Ahrens of Appleton, WI; Jeffrey (Toni) Ahrens of Phoenix, AZ and Patti (Steve) Bertram of Green Bay, WI;
a brother Ralph (Jean) Spangenberg of Marinette;
14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Dallis and Marilyn Ahrens and a grandson, David Michalak.

Funeral services at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Marinette with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo, Wisconsin.
