Obituary
Homer Abbott, son of Ebenezer and Unice Pomeroy Abbott was born in Willoughby, Lake Co., Ohio, May 4th, 1824. Died Jan. 13, 1913 at Argonia, Kans., 89 years, 8 months and 9 days. He was one of nine children. On May 22nd, 1845 he was married to Henrietta Norton, who died Aug. 16, 1886. On Jan. 17, 1888 he was married to Katherine Hart Tanner who died Oct. 8, 1910. His early life was spent in Ohio and Ill., moving to Kansas in 1884, since that time he has lived in Argonia and vicinity and numbers of his friends by the score. While his life has been a quite one it has been characterized by integrity, uprightness and honesty. When about 15 years old he keenly felt his need of a Savior and after seeking for a little while he gave up and went back into the world. For ten years the Spirit of God entirely left him not again convicting him of sin. Later in life he again became conscious of his lost condition and yielded himself to God, uniting with the Baptist church. After coming to Kansas he united with the Friends church at Argonia in 1889 and has been a loyal member up to the time of his death. It had been his cutom to depend on God in all of life's problems feeling that He is present help at all times. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord."

The funeral services was conducted from the Friends church on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 10 o'clock.
