The youngest of three sisters, Colleen Rose was born 9 December 1932 on a farm in Caldwell, Kansas to Terrell Alexander and Irene Parsons Youree.
Realizing his good fortune high-school sweetheart Donnie Balaban asked for her hand. Together they embarked on an incredible 62 year adventure delighting each other and everyone they met during the happiest of hours.
A voracious appetite for books and a bottomless thirst for travel, however what truly quenched her soul was the love and revelry of her adored family and cherished friends.
Husband Don, sister Lois Akers and sweet departed sister Norma Smock, son Brad, daughter Kris and her better half Shaun Murray. Grandkids Kelsey, Stuart, Michael, Mary Grace, Joseph, Jon Allen, Katherine, Emma, Stephen and Alex. Add in the Greats, Judah, Maddie , Samuel and Micajah. Toss in some son and daughters-in-law Bethany, Rebecca and Cody. Numerous special nieces (Jan Thompson!) and nephews, legions of friends and everyone lucky enough to have been on the receiving end of her beautiful smile, genuine goodwill and unfailing birthday and thank-you cards.
Indeed her truest strength lay in the celebration, contentment and comfort of those she loved.
Thank you Colleen for a life well lived.
Service celebrating Colleen will be 11 am Tuesday, June 16, at Crossings Community Chapel with burial at Corzine Cemetery, Corbin, KS the following day.
