Balaban, Don, 83, trust officer, died Sept. 2. Celebration of life 6 p.m. Friday (Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, Oklahoma City).

Don Balaban did it his way. Proud to sport purple in a sea of crimson, collector of a thousand watches some with working batteries and a tuxedo pressed and ready for any party.

Don was a stubborn Taurus through and through. Some facts: Born 7 May 1932 to Lillie and A.J. Balaban in Caldwell, KS. Graduated Kansas State University and Married his sweetheart Colleen in 1953, 2nd Lt. Air Force, Flew a Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar around Western Europe and North Africa, 1962 Juris Doctorate Oklahoma City University, Worked at Liberty National Bank for 32 years with 32 years worth of swag, Joined Heritage Trust in 1997 where his desk was always stocked with orange slices. MOKAN and Lion's Club member plus a host of philanthropic activities.

He is survived by his son, Brad; daughter Kris and better half Shaun Murray; grandchildren Kelsey, Stuart and wife Bethany, Michael and wife Rebecca, Mary Grace and husband Cody, Joseph, Jon Allen, Katherine, Emma, Stephen, Alex; great grandchildren, Judah, Maddie, Samuel, Micajah.

So don some purple, wind your watch and come share a Mr. Balaban story with us Friday, September 4, at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper at 6 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., Corzine Cemetery, Corbin, KS. Memorials to the charity of your choice.
