Actor, Murder Victim. Danny Lockin appeared in "Hello Dolly" in 1969 as 'Barnaby,' "Gypsy" in 1962 as chorus boy 'Jerry,' and numerous television shows. He also appeared on "Dean Martin Presents the Golddiggers." On August 21, 1977, he competed on "The Gong Show." He lived in Orange County and worked for his mother's dance studio at the time. He went to a bar in Garden Grove, California, for a drink and left the bar with Charles Hopkins. He was found dead in Hopkins' apartment. Hopkins was arrested, convicted, and sentenced for the crime of voluntary manslaughter. He was stabbed 100 times by Hopkins. Police found a "torture diary" under Hopkins' bed and tried in vain to prosecute Hopkins with this evidence. Pictures found in the diary show that Hopkins had planned the crime. The courts ruled that the evidence found after the crime was not admissible in court as the evidence was obtained without a search warrant. Hopkins only served two years for the crime.
