Motion Picture Set Designer. Lieutenant Day enlisted in the 88th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, and was appointed to commissioned rank on the 7th day of January, 1916. He served in Canada, England and France with the 88th Bn., 7th Bn., 8th Bn., C.C.K.G. Coy., M.R.D., 18th Reserve Battalion. and D.D. No.11. He was Struck Off the Strength on the 7th day of July 1919 by reason of General Demobilization. After his military service, he became an Academy Award-winning set designer on 17 motion pictures and an art director on 245 films from 1922 to 1970, including: "Palmy Days," "The Kid From Spain," "The Call of the Wild," "Swanee River," "Blood and Sand," "Roxie Hart," "My Foolish Heart" and several "Charlie Chan" movies. Nominated for 18 Oscars, he won 7 for his work on "On the Waterfront," "A Streetcar Named Desire," "This Above All," "My Gal Sal," "How Green Was My Valley," "Dodsworth" and "The Dark Angel."
