Christian Educator, Gospel Preacher and Debater. Co-Founder with A.G. Freed of the West Tennessee Teachers and Normal College (1908), now Freed-Hardeman University, in Henderson, Tennessee. Served as Superentendent of the Chester County Public Schools, Instructor at Georgie Robertson Christian College, Vice President of Freed-Hardeman College and President of FHC from 1925-1950. WTT&NC was renamed Freed-Hardeman College to honor the founders, and later renamed Freed-Hardeman University in 1990. Gave the famous Tabernacle Sermons at Ryman Auditorium (home of the Grand Ole Opry) in Nashville in 1922, 1923 & 1928. Considered one of the great preachers and leaders of the Restoration Movement within the church of Christ within the first half of the 20th Century. Had several important religious debates with members of denominational leaders. Counted Lyndon B. Johnson as a friend (attended a Birthday Party in Brother Hardeman's honor in Memphis).
