Professional Hockey Player, Coach. He played in the National Hockey League for ten seasons (1969 to 1980) as a defenseman for the Chicago Blackhawks. He played his college hockey at the University of Denver in Colorado, and led them to two NCAA championships in 1968 and 1969. Signed by the Black Hawks after college, he would go on to be a defensive mainstay for the team for the next ten seasons, helping them to reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1971 and 1973. He was named an NHL All-Star in 1971 and 1972, and was the Black Hawks team captain from 1976 to 1980. After he retired he was named Head Coach of the Blackhawks, serving in that role from 1980 to 1982. He had career totals of 14 goals, 125 assists and 1,442 career penalty minutes in 589 games played. He was killed in a auto accident in December 2003.
