Composer. She gained fame for her songwriting skills, as well as being a singer and song publisher. Early in her career, she performed in Manhattan nightclubs with the Sammy Kaye Band and with Sammy Davis Jr. and others. In 1954, she released her single record, "All I Do Is Dream of You." Sources credited her with writing 300 songs, but not all were released. Released in February of 1958, she wrote "Baby Lover" for British singer Petula Clark and the Peter Knight Orchestra. Released in 1963, she wrote "Don't Take It Out on This World" for the Adam's Apples. Other artists performing her songs were Connie Francis and George Maharis. She co-wrote with Ray Allen the 1962 novelty song "Pepino the Italian Mouse," which reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the second week of January of 1963 after Monti performed the song on the Ed Sullivan Show. She and Allen filed a lawsuit against Woody Allen's movie "Broadway Danny Rose," claiming the melody of the film's theme song "Agita" had 49 of the 52 notes of the verse of "Pepino the Italian Mouse" and the case was settled out of court.
