US Congressman. Representative from Pennsylvania’s 14th Congressional District, was born in Landisburg, Perry County, Pa on February 28, 1829. He attended public schools in Landisburg and later attended private schools in Harrisburg. He attended Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, graduating in 1846. Following graduation he studied law and was admitted to the bar. He set up practice in Harrisburg before moving to New Bloomfield. He returned to Harrisburg in 1854 to become clerk to the state supreme court and the state senate. In 1862 he won election to the Thirty eighth Congress but was unsuccessful for reelection in 1864. Following his Congressional defeat he returned to Harrisburg and once again took up the profession of law and dabbled in journalism. His father, Jesse Miller, had also served as a US Representative. William Henry Miller died on September 12, 1870.
