Luke Jordan
Birth: Jan. 28, 1892, USA
Death: Jun. 25, 1952
Lynchburg City
Virginia, USA

Blues Guitarist, Vocalist. He recorded for Victor Records in 1927 and did well enough for the record company to transfer him to New York for additonal recording sessions. Eight of the ten tracks he did were released finding notable success. He was a high pitched singer who played primarily vaudeville songs, although many thought his best recording was 'Church Bell Blues' or the 'Cocaine Blues' he recorded with Dick Justice in 1929. The Blues Society recognized him as an important figure of East Coast Piedmont blues by erecting a historical marker in his honor in Lynchburg, Virginia. (bio by: Elizabeth Reed)
