He served in the conflict as a Specialist in the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, and died on November 14, 2011 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered after encountering an improvised explosive device. The war was officially declared over on December 14, 2011.
