Italian Fascist Statesman, Journalist. Known for his support of fascism in Italy during World War II. Joined Benito Mussolini in the early 1920s and participated in the 1922 March on Rome, a pivotal moment in fascism rise in Italy. From 1929 to 1934, he was the local leader of the National Fascist Party in Florence. He wrote for and published many fascist publications, including Battaglie fasciste, Rivoluzione fascista, Critica fascista, Bargello, and Corriere della Sera. He believed that fascism should have a cultural and aristocratic image. Served as a lieutenant in the Second Italo-Abyssinian War. Appointed by Mussolini in 1939 to Minister of Popular Culture. Named the head of the Republican Fascist Party after Mussolini's ousting. Captured and executed after trying to swim across Lake Como. His body was hung upside down in public along with Mussolini, Mussolini's mistress, and several other fascist leaders.
