Major League Baseball Player. As an outfielder, he played 13 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies, and New York Mets. He was drafted by the Brewers in the 11th round of the 1986 amateur draft after attending Nicholls State University. He batted over .300 four times in his career, with a career best .315 average in 1999, splitting the season with the Rockies and Mets. Hamilton led the league in fielding percentage among center fielders three times (1996, 1998, and 1999), and led the American League in putouts among center fielders in 1996 with 385. In 1997, he recorded the first ever hit in an interleague game, while playing with the Giants. He finished his career with a .291 batting average, 1333 hits, and 163 stolen bases. Following his playing career, he worked in MLB's Advanced Media and Baseball Operations departments, and as a broadcaster with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Milwaukee Brewers, and MLB Network. He was shot and killed in an apparent murder-suicide in 2015.
