Cuban Leader. The wife of Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista, she served as Cuba's Matron of Arts during his presidency. She convinced him to build a National Gallery in Cuba. When her husband was overthrown in 1958, the couple fled to the Dominican Republic and eventually Spain.
