US Congressman. He graduated from Comers Commercial College and was successful in the business of manufacturing clothes. He was a member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives in 1906 and a member of the Republican State committee, (1907-08). In 1915, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses, serving until 1919. Not a candidate for reelection, he continued in manufacturing and was president of the William Carter Company until his death at age 90.
