U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the Cincinnati Law School in 1914, was admitted to the bar and opened a law practice in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was assistant prosecuting attorney of Hamilton County, (1915-22) and a member of the faculty of the Y.M.C.A. Law School (1916-36). During World War I, he served as an aviation cadet in the United States Army Air Corps. In 1939, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving until 1953. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until he retired and lived in Florida, until his death at age 89.
