Organized Crime Figure. Brother of Kansas City Crime Boss Nick Civella. When Nick died in prison Carl became boss of the family and in 1984 he was sentenced to thirty years in federal prison for his role in skimming more than $280,000 from the Las Vegas Tropicana and almost $2 million from casinos run by Argent Corporation. This scheme became the basis for the plot of the Martin Scorcese film "Casino."
