The story behind the statue, as told to me by a relative, was that the statue was created from just a photograph of Ms. Holford with her dog, Bunnie. A full-size statue of Ms. Holford with Bunnie lying at her feet was then carved out of Italian marble. The detail is incredible, even down to the face of her watch. The statue is holding an inscription that reads "Don't Be Afraid To Stand Alone". The statue stands next to Mrs. Holford's above-ground vault located just west of the Cemetery office.

Ms Holford also started the Jonesboro Pet Cemetery, located on Stadium Blvd at Fox Meadow Lane, next to Jonesboro Monument Company.

2024 UPDATE: The land containing the monument company and the pet cemetery has been purchased by Craighead Electric, located next to this location. It's unknown if the cemetery will remain or relocated at this time.

NEW UPDATE: As of Jan. 8th, 2012, the statue has been repaired and is back in place.

UPDATE: Sometime between Oct. 30th and Nov. 1st, 2010, Mrs. Holford's statue was vandalized and broken apart at
the knees. A 17 year old male later confessed to police and the case was turned over to juvenile authorities.
The estimated cost of repair is $75,000. I hope that
the statue can somehow be repaired.
