A letter I read at the funeral for Uncle Albert:

Uncle Albert has always been a special person in my life. He always made sure he was part of my life even if we lived states apart. He went out of his way from the time I was born to make sure I knew how much he loved me. No matter how old I got he still preferred for me to call him uncle Albert.
I have many very special memories of uncle Albert. When I was with him he made me feel special and loved.
One of my earliest memories of him is from the time I was 3 years old. When we lived in Louisiana he would come and visit us. Many times that he visited he liked to wash my hair in the sink. He called it "washing the cooties out of my hair'' I always looked forward to having him wash my hair in the sink because I enjoyed it and I also did not want cooties in my hair, and although I could not see these imaginary cooties, I was worried and I thought that he was the only one that could get them out of my hair.
When I was around 7 years old we spent quality time together at the fair. He won a game and got a prize ziggy. I was surprised when after he won, he immediately handed it to me. To me this was a big deal. I could not believe that someone earned something and gave it to me. This made me feel very important. This taught me a lesson on being kind and giving to others. This moment was so special to me that I decided to keep ziggy forever. I still have him til this day.
I remember riding around with him and listening to music in his white convertible. One song that I remember playing as we rode around was black water by the doobie brothers. Since then, that song has always reminded me of him.
When I was grown we remained close. Sometimes we sat up late at night and chatted online for hours. We shared the joy of owning cockatiels. It was fun discussing them; what we had taught them, what we fed them, ect.
Uncle Albert had a lucky troll named Sam. He carried him around frequently from the time he was in the Air Force until he gave him to me 5 years ago.
I will always remember the kindness and love my Uncle Albert showed me.
