An Italian woman selected to represent all Italian mothers that had had lost a son in World War I not knowing where he was buried. After the war, she chose one of eleven unidentified bodies of members of the Italian Armed Forces and his remains were buried in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Rome. The other ten were buried in Aquileia. After her death, Bergamas was buried in Aquileia together with the bodies of the ten other unknown soldiers.
