1936 - Taken ill with a stroke Thursday morning, Mrs. Alice Swartz Geiger, mother-in-law of Burgess Amos Peters of Coplay, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the Peter's home, 26 N. 4th St., Coplay, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 8 days. Mrs. Geiger was born near Ballietsville, a daughter of the late Joel and Mary (Mattern) DeLong. She lived in and around Coplay for the past 20 years, having made her home for seven years with her daughter. She was a member of the Reformed wing of St. John's church, Coplay, and of Trinity Reformed Sunday school in Coplay. There survives only one daughter, Mrs. Amos Peters, Coplay; along with four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Laura Trawitz, Steelton, a twin sister; Mrs. Ellen Schmoyer; Daniel DeLong, Lafayette, Ind.; Paul DeLong, Allentown; and Tilden DeLong, Egypt. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with all services from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peters, and interment in St. John's church cemetery, Laurys. Rev. Thomas Brendle will officiate, assisted by Rev. Bertram Werkheiser. Viewing Tuesday from 7 to 9.
