Springhill, LA - Funeral services for Mr. George Ray Smith, age 80, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Central Baptist Church, Springhill, LA, with Rev. Tim Everett and Rev. Paul Troquille officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2017, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Smith was born on August 28, 1936 to Thomas T. and Gene LeCroy Smith in Shreveport, LA and passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Bossier City. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he was a faithful money counter for many years. He was retired from the U.S. Army and later worked for several banks in Shreveport. He was a past Master of the Springhill Masonic Lodge 348 F& AM and enjoyed visiting with friends, walking at the track, and his grandchildren very much.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Dean Troquille Smith; two sons, Kevin Ray Smith and wife, Cindy of Arlington, TX, Randy Smith and wife, Jumana of Argyle, TX; six grandchildren, Kristyn Smith, Sarah Warren and husband, Dylan, Hannah Smith, Micah Smith, Laila Smith, and Maya Smith.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Micah Smith, Charles Troquille, Scott Troquille, Rodney Milliken, Lane Manson, and Randy Frye. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Gleason, Billy Boyette, Gary Fontana, and Billy Sayers.
