Betty N. Fesperman, 88, of Fair Grove, passed peacefully to her Eternal Home on February 24, 2017. She was born October 18, 1928, in southern Greene County, MO, to Elmer and Lorene (Baumberger) McCroskey.

Her early years were spent on the family farm located in what is now south Springfield. She attended Plainview School and Nixa High School, graduating in 1946. After high school, she attended Springfield College of Commerce and worked in the office at Lily Tulip. Later, she worked in the installment loans department at Union National Bank on the square in Springfield. There she met her husband, Don, and they were married June 4, 1949. Don and Betty raised their family at Maplewood Farm in northern Greene County. During the years her children were home, Betty lovingly cared for her family and the farm and volunteered for various organizations, such as 4-H, PTA and Band Boosters. Later, she worked a short time at Maplewood Gardens for her son, Don Jr. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, reading, crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed collecting cookbooks and trying recipes. She especially enjoyed mowing her yard with her riding lawnmower and working outdoors. Central Christian Church was her church of choice for over sixty years. She served as a deacon and for thirty years, volunteered in the nursery which she described as the best job at the church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially reading to her grand and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Fesperman; sons, Don Jr. and Stephen; brother, Bill McCroskey; and a granddaughter, Shannon Fesperman.
