He listed his mother, Mrs. Cora N. Darby as the person who would always know his address. John was not working. He was described as 5’ 10½”, 151 lbs., of light complexion, with blue eyes and brown hair.

John Edgar Darby died 17 September 1969 in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas, age 59. He had lived in Amarillo (3800 N.E. 12th St) 24 years (since 1945). He was born 10 March 1910 in Colorado. John was a switchman for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was married and his wife, Mrs. John Darby was the informant.

Funeral services for John Edgar Darby, 59, of 3800 N.E. 12th Street, a Santa Fe Railway switchman who died Wednesday afternoon at his home, will be announced by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors.

Born in Clifton, Col., Mr. Darby came to Amarillo 24 years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Retired Trainmen and the Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; three sons, John, Jr. of Indiana, Donald of Webb City, Mo., and Ronald of Joplin, Mo.; a stepson, Donald E. Pennington of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Vaughn of El Paso; a brother, George, and a sister, Miss Edith Darby, both of Kansas City, Kan., and 11 grandchildren.
