Jeanette L. Hallbom, 88, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday, May 10th in Mesa after a long battle with Alzheimers.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 30th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Jeanette was born on May 30, 1928, in Willmar, MN, the daughter of Donald and Marie (Bergeson) Wright. She was united in marriage to Carlton Ferguson and to this union three children were born. After their divorce, she married Fred Hallbom. Fred passed away early in their marriage. While living in Willmar, she worked at the Willmar State Hospital and Rice Memorial Hospital.


Her lifetime companion was James (Jim) McGill whom she enjoyed spending the winters with in Arizona during her retirement. She and Jim also traveled to many veteran’s events as she served as the Fifth District President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her passion and commitment was endless towards the VFW as she also belonged to the Cooties.

Surviving are her daughter, Carol Aasen of Spicer; eight grandchildren: Brett Aasen, Bryan Aasen, Blair (and Lisa) Aasen, Beth (and Mike) Petersen, Roy Friehl Jr (and special friend, Jessica), Kevin (and Amber) Friehl, Korey Friehl (and special friend, Chandra) and Christine Riemersma; 15 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren; sister, Doris Strandberg of La Mesa; daughter-in-law, Gloria Ferguson of Willmar and many other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, son, Richard Ferguson, daughter, Diana Friehl, brother, Harold Wright, sisters: Phyllis Norine, Lee Slavik and Myrna Carlson and sons-in-law, Paul Aasen and Roy Friehl.
