Mrs. Stierlin died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of California for 64 years before moving to Kansas in May 1993. She was cared for by several members of her family in Topeka and had lived most recently with a granddaughter in McLouth.
She was born Oct. 1, 1908, in Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of Charles Victor and Maude L. (Chapman) Aaronson.
Mrs. Stierlin was a member of the Baptist faith. She was an active Girl Scout troop leader from 1947 to 1960, working with several troops. She and her husband volunteered during World War II, assisting in transporting soldiers on the California coast. She also volunteered in all voter elections of which she was a precinct committee woman and was a Salvation Army volunteer.
She married Theodore Virgil Stierlin June 30, 1927, in Rock Island, Ill. He died Jan. 15, 1989.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Mattock, Topeka, and Gloria Martin, Azusa, Calif.; a brother, Arthur Aaronson, Rock Island, Ill.; a sister, Ethel Hedley, Santa Ana, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials in her name to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorder Research, P.O. Box 1427, Topeka 66601.
