Albert Henry Abbe, 92, a longtime resident of Enfield, entered into his eternal rest on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare Center.

Born on March 1, 1917, in Enfield, Albert was the son of the late Levi P. and Adalaide (Varno) Abbe. He was formerly employed by Colt Firearms in Hartford, and prior to his retirement in 1979, Albert worked in the testing department of Stanadyne in Windsor for 31 years. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Albert was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Enfield and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Claddagh Club and in his leisure time, he was an avid golfer and could be found on the course at Airways or Grassmere Country Club.

Albert is survived by a sister, Marion Neelans of Enfield; several nieces and nephews, among them, Donna and Bruce Farnsworth of Enfield, Charles and Phyllis Larson of Agawam, Gail Montano of Canton, Gary Abbe and his wife, Pat, of Vernon, Bruce Abbe, and Lynn Reardon and her husband, John, all of Florida. Albert was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Bernice E. (Fians) Abbe in 2005; his two brothers, Edwin and Herbert Abbe; and his sister, Mildred McMillan.

Relatives and friends may gather at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. for a procession at St. Bernard Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
