ABBE, GILBERT (age 78)
Of Myrtle Beach, S.C. died Thursday, May 5, 1988. He is survived by his wife, Laura Paul Abbe; four children, Patricia Abbe Snyder of Jacksonville, Fl., Gilbert Colgate Abbe of Vicksburg, Ms., Caryl Abbe Ageto of Gunnison, Co. and Susan Abbe Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C. and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Truman Waldo Abbe of Beaumont, Tx., [and other siblings] Petrena Abbe Shea of Williamsburg, Va. and William Whipple Abbe of Bethesda, Md. He lived in Briarcliffe Acres, S.C. since 1972 when he and his wife moved from College Park, Md. He was born and raised in Washington D.C. and worked for Southern Oxygen Co./Air Products and Chemicals from which he retired in 1965. He was active in Kiwanis Club and president of Prince Georges Golf and Country in Maryland and a member of Bay Tree Golf Plantation in Myrtle Beach. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Myrtle Beach, S.C. at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
