Alpha "Nicki" Abbitt, age 92, of Bartow, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 in Tallahassee. Mrs. Abbitt was born October 20, 1918 in Sumter, SC. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Bartow Art Guild. Mrs. Abbitt graduated from the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL. She was a noted watercolor artist and supported the Bartow Bloomin' Arts Festival for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband James Main Abbitt, Sr. She is survived by her daughter; Alice Abbitt & Dr. Ralph Zimmerman of Tallahassee. son; James Jr. and daughter-in-law Beverly Abbitt, of Babson Park. Two granddaughters Alice Sloan Abbitt of Tallahassee and Lee Kinsey Abbitt Shaw & son-in-law James Howard Shaw of Lexington, KY., brother; George Barnum Epperson of Dade City. cousins Donald Cloughley and Rick & wife Jan Cloughley. Graveside services will be held at Bartow Wildwood Cemetery at 4:00 PM Friday, November 5, 2010, with Father Wallace A. Reynolds officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Bartow.
