Mrs. Abbitt was Associate Editor for the Times Virginian, a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher and co-organist, a member of the Appomattox Woman's Club, secretary of the Appomattox Historical Society and served on the Board of Directors for the Appomattox Chapter of the American Heart Association.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Bruce H. Paulette Jr., Chris P. Greever and her husband, Chuck and E.W. (Scott Walker) Paulette Jr. and his wife, Tanya all of Lynchburg; a stepdaughter, Joyce McLean Abbitt of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Traci Horne, B.H. Paulette III and Jennifer M. Credit and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Joey and Grant.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998 at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Jim Bunce with burial in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
