Hazel Adams Abbitt, 87, died Sunday, August 20, 2017, in Chippenham Medical Center. She was the wife of the late George Raleigh Abbitt, Jr.

Born in Keysville, VA, on September 26, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Etta Richardson and Charles Monroe Adams. She was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two children, Delores A. Gilligan and husband, George and George D. Abbitt and wife, Peggy; one brother, Reed Adams and wife, Florence; two sisters, Tansy Sloan and Dorothy Martin and husband, William; four grandsons, James A. Hurt, Jr. and wife, Tammy, Mack Abbitt, Vince Gilligan, and Patrick Gilligan; and six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Austin, Tyler, Sara Beth, Sam, and Jack.

A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, August 24, 2017, at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery by Pastor Steve Conwell. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. before the service.
