Mrs. Celia Abbitt, 83, of 1857 North Creek Road, Appomattox, departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Lynchburg, General Hospital. She was born Nov. 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Samuel and Cora Jones. She was the wife of the late Chancy J. Abbitt. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lucille Hartman.
She was a member of Jordan Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Cora Franklin (Fleming), Mary Ferguson (Sears), Christine Abbitt all of Appomattox, and Martha Abbitt of Pennsylvania; three sons, Robert Abbitt of Lynchburg, Chancy Abbitt Jr., of Appomattox, and James Abbitt (Lilian) of Pamplin; one sister, Rachel Jones of Appomattox; grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted ay 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Jordan Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. L. Elliott officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Her remains will be on view at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends and the cortege will assemble at the residence.
