Ms. Abbott was born in Yonkers on September 2, 1928 and lived there until 1963, when she moved to Tarrytown to raise her family. She lived in Tarrytown until 1999, when her illness forcd her to move closer to her daughter.
Ms. Abbott had worked for the Hilton Inn for many years and also for the City of White Plains.
She was an active member of Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown until she moved.
Ms. Abbott is predeceased by her son, William Abbott, and her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Abbott Bennett, of Little Rock; her daughter-in-law, Melanie Abbott, of Hawthorne; her former husband, Norman Abbott, of Little Rock; and her much-loved grandchildren, Nicole and Thadeous Abbott of Hawthorne and Jessica Bennett of Little Rock. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, expecially Janet Skrobola of Croton, who she also counted as a great friend. Ms. Abbott also leaves many longtime friends.
Memorial services will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla.
