Allen Ray Abbott, 83, of 1556 Oakwood Street, Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 1995, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on October 7, 1911, a son of the late Charles J. Abbott and Lena Johnson Abbott. His wife was the late Helen Ruth Witt Abbott. He was a retired supervisor for Elks National Home, a member of Bedford Baptist Church, a member of B.P.O.E. and had served in the National Guard. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, two daughters and son-in-law, two granddaughters, a grandson, three sisters [names removed for privacy]. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 17, 1995, at 2 p.m. from Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Jim Carroll with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
